This library is a copy of the Clarence Regional Library in Grafton, NSW Australia. The map was used to accompany the picture book My Place by Nadia Wheatley. Students created their 'own place' and published their written work in the library.

This world is very open ended with plots and a library. The library bookcases will need the names changed to your students.

This is a brief overview of the task set for my year 5 class:

Students select a site in Grafton that is significant to them. They redesign and build their site in MinecraftEdu incorporating sustainable environmental practices.  Students will also identify features of the local environment and how these influence the community.

Students use maths skills in area, measurement and mapping; Science and Technology skills to plan and build sustainably; English skills to document their work through multimedia and modal forms i.e. publish in the virtual library
