Short Trailer for World of Humanities

A vast, virtual environment that simulates exploration of ancient history. Similar to a "World of Warcraft" RPG that engages students with the discovery of ancient history and geography. Students can discover areas themed to ancient civilizations, go on quests, meet characters from history, and collaborate to build themed projects from history.

Students earn experience points, gain levels, collect rare items that they can wear to differentiate themselves from other players, and gain coins and riches as they complete quests and learn about history. Includes over 400 pages of written text broken into easily-digestible and fun factoids, quests, in-game books, dialogue, videos, and internet links.

Please read through this instructions packet for much more detail: Instructions Packet for Students (note that several sections of this packet are intended for Eric Walker’s personal students only, such as the specifics of installation on their home computers).

Install Instructions

The version available on this site includes only the map designed by Eric Walker. Note that as MinecraftEdu supports the Custom NPCs mod, you may still access NPCs with this map.  It is recommended that you use one of the Resource Packs available for download, above (otherwise NPC's will look strange).  Place them into your \minecraftedu\minecraft\resourcepacks folder and enable them in Options.

For advanced users, you may extend the experience with additional features not ordinarily supported by MinecraftEdu such as map waypoints, ridable animals, custom texture packs and more. For more information go to the World of Humanities MinecraftEdu Wiki and follow the install instructions there. Use at your own risk.

This is incredible! Seriously unimaginable potential for use in class and out. Thank you!

Oh. My. Lord................ This is amazing. I've only just got minecraft for my school. I don't even know who I'll be teaching it to yet (UK Primary: years 1-6). Rest assured I'll be finding a place for this map. Although I think maybe we'll start off with smaller steps..........................

We have just started this and my students are upset because school finishes in 1 week! Its not enough time to do this map justice! If only there was a World of Humanities Hosted Server so children from around the world could experience this amazing learning together!

This is awesome. Purchased a sever and license from Minecraftedu. Hoping to get our district to purchase it for two classrooms next year. Hopefully they will after showing them examples like this.
