Additional Material

Students are tasked with surviving in a scenario similar to Brian Robeson's from Gary Paulsen's Hatchet.

Assignments like build a shelter, gather food, light a signal fire will guide students through a number of tasks.

We used this as a follow up activity once the book and book reports were finished.

I included as many details from the book as I could. In addition there are some features that weren't included in the book but fit into the scenario. If students explore the map enough they might find some hidden treasures!

Book comparison

One of my favorite books to read and teach! I like your missions. I would suggest adding a fish mission. Also, there were no animals in the world. Do you use a mod to add different animals? What about adding a secret lever that acts like a beacon for the rescue team. (This is kind of like your signal fire.) Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
